TAU is built so that we cannot access your conversations. Everything you say to TAU, and everything TAU remembers about you, is stored locally on your device and processed by an AI model running on your device. It is never sent to our servers. We collect only what is needed to operate your account: your email address.
Account data (stored on our servers): your email address, a hashed password (we never see your actual password), your account creation date, and your authentication sessions. This is managed through our authentication provider (Supabase) with transactional emails delivered via Resend.
Subscription status: your Free or Pro status is managed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive your payment details — Apple processes all payments.
What we do NOT collect: your conversations, TAU's memories about you, your name as shared with TAU, or any content of your interactions. These exist only on your device. We do not use analytics trackers, advertising identifiers, or sell any data.
All conversations and memories are stored in a local database inside the app's private storage on your device, protected by iOS's app sandboxing. The AI model runs entirely on your device's processor — your messages are not transmitted to any server for processing, and TAU works offline.
Because of this design: we cannot read, moderate, recover, or hand over your conversations — to anyone, including legal authorities — because we do not have them.
If a different account signs in on your device, the previous account's local data is erased first. Your memories are never accessible to another account.
We send transactional emails only: verification codes and password reset codes. If you opt in to our mailing list, we may send product updates; you can unsubscribe at any time.
Your account data is kept as long as your account exists. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) permanently removes your account data from our servers and erases all local data from your device. Local data is also removed if you uninstall the app.
On first launch, TAU downloads the AI model (~2.3 GB) from a model repository. This download requests only the model files; your personal data is not transmitted.
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since the only personal data we hold is your account email, you can exercise these rights directly: view it in Settings, or delete it entirely via account deletion. For anything else, contact us.
TAU is not intended for users under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Account authentication uses industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS). Sessions are stored in the iOS Keychain. Local data is protected by iOS sandboxing and your device's security (passcode, Face ID).
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
